A proud moment for Wincanton.

Wincanton has been at the forefront of transport for almost 100 years. Attracting a diverse generation of talent and this has been exemplified this year with the wrapping of their Mercedes Actros MP5 tractor unit - in the PRIDE colours, for the Wincanton driver of the year event at Silverstone and awards dinner.
Dave Rowlands, Fleet Engineering Director of Wincanton said, “We are fully aware that the industry we are in is going through a huge change and as such we have embraced this by creating a business that strongly reflects inclusion and is changing the perception of HGV driving”.
SMUK have played a small part in this by facilitating the PRIDE wrap and supplying several driver retention initiatives including the fitting of a TV, microwave, in-cab fridge and overhead locker system.
Mr Rowlands said, “They all did a sterling job getting our Pride liveried and delivered to Silverstone. It was well received at our Driver of the Year function and our awards dinner later in the evening”.
From here the Wincanton’s Pride vehicle will take part in the UK’s largest two-day gay pride festival in Birmingham which starts on Saturday 24th of September 2022, before putting it into service across the business.
Wincanton provides critical storage, handling and distribution services across a range of markets including food and consumer goods, retail and manufacturing, eCommerce, the public sector, major infrastructure, building materials, fuel, and defence…And with almost 100 years’ heritage, Wincanton's 19,600-strong team operates from more than 200 sites across the country, utilising 3,500 vehicles.
